Digital Solutions for Sustainable Forest Restoration
The Vrtaljica Reforestation Platform is a comprehensive digital solution developed to support the restoration, monitoring, and sustainable management of burned forest areas in the Vrtaljica locality near Konjic.
Designed for Šumarstvo Prenj d.d. Konjic, the platform brings together modern web technologies, geospatial data, and interactive tools into a single ecosystem that simplifies reforestation planning, encourages community participation, and improves access to environmental information.
By combining digital innovation with sustainable forestry practices, the project demonstrates how technology can contribute to the preservation and restoration of natural ecosystems.
The Challenge
Following large-scale forest fires, managing burned areas, organizing reforestation activities, and providing accessible information to the public became increasingly complex. Existing processes relied on fragmented information, making it difficult to monitor affected locations, coordinate restoration efforts, and encourage citizen involvement.
The objective was to develop a centralized digital platform that would connect environmental data, nursery services, and interactive mapping into a single, user-friendly solution.
